Many Atlas players quickly become very emotional about the subject of taxes on islands.
But there is good news.
You do not pay most taxes at all. All resources that you mine on an island or dead animals that you dismember go to you in full. If a tax rate of 20% is set, you will not be deducted 20%. Instead, you receive 100% and the game generates an additional 20%, which then ends up in the flag.
In plain language: you won't get one piece of wood, one scrap of leather or one fish less on an island with taxes.
There is just one catch.
These are treasure maps. If you dig up a treasure, 20% of the gold sum goes to the owner of the island flag. However, this is the only exception. The proceeds from Haunted Land Chest for example, is not taxed at all.
