Taming animals

On the Radioactive Atlas server there are many different Animals which can be tamed and then used. Not every animal can be tamed in the same way. A general distinction is made here between "bola taming" and "passive taming". There are also a few animal species that fall outside of this category. With these animals, the taming process is carried out directly in the Wiki entry of the animal described.

How can I passively tame an animal?

The most important thing when passively taming is that the animal does not become aggressive towards you or become frightened of you. If this does happen to you, you should retreat for the time being and stop the taming process until the animal has calmed down again. Otherwise you will lose taming efficiency and therefore potential levels.

To passively tame the animal

• place the pet's favorite food in your quick start bar in position 0
• slowly sneak up on the animal until you see an option that allows you to feed it using the "E" button
• you will be shown after feeding when the animal is hungry again and can be fed again.
• the animal should not starve for a long time once the timer has expired, otherwise the efficiency of the taming process will decrease.
• the animal must be fed until the progress bar of the counting process reaches 100%

How can I tame an animal with a bola?

The most important thing when taming with a bola is timing. So that you don't lose any efficiency in the taming process, you must not take too much time between feedings. Especially when taming aggressive animals, you should pay attention to your health and, if necessary, place a sleeping bag or bed nearby. Because if you first have to walk from the ship to your corpse to continue taming, it will simply take too long. If this does happen to you, I recommend interrupting the taming process and waiting until the animal has fully recovered its health. This will also reset the taming progress and efficiency.

To tame an animal with a bola

• you place enough bolas on any space in your quick start bar. As with passive taming, the animal's favorite food is placed on space 0.
• you inflict so much damage on the animal that its health indicator changes to orange or red.
• make sure that when you aim the bola at the animal, it is confirmed in green that the animal can be caught with the bola. If this is not the case, further damage must be dealt
• throw the bola at the animal and bring it to the ground. Pay attention to the timer, which shows how long the animal will remain tied up.
• slowly sneak up on the animal until you see an option that allows you to feed it using the "E" button
• you hurry when feeding. As soon as the feeding screen appears in red, you were too slow and are losing efficiency.
• you get into a fighting position in time before the animal breaks free from the bola.
• repeat the process until the animal is tamed.

What can I do to make taming easier?

There are a few things that will make it easier for you:

• You could build a trap. This will prevent the animal from running away. However, make sure that the trap is not too small, otherwise it will be more difficult to tame. We also expect you to dismantle your trap afterwards.
• you could play a song with the accordion that improves your counting efficiency
• you could unlock the "Sperm Whale Killer" skill by creating a Sperm whale and thus tame 30% faster.
• Unlock the "Advanced Taming Proficiency" skill to further speed up the taming process
