Haunted Land Chest

These land crates are a challenge that you can encounter on practically every island in every grid. They spawn randomly across the grids, depending on where there is space.

The task is to defend the crate against several waves of attacking skeletons. As the quality of the crate increases, there will be more and more powerful skeletons that can survive more rounds. So try a green or blue crate to start with.

The reward is to loot the crate, which contains gold, mythos and blueprints. These are essentially BP for armor, weapons and tools. The problem is that the skeletons want to destroy the crate and will do so relatively reliably if you don't stop them. Important: YOU, i.e. your weapons, tames, grenades, etc. also damage the crate if you hit it. You can afford a few hits, but caution is still advised.

Rough plan: Start the crate, kill the skeletons BEFORE they destroy the crate. Perhaps the most important information here: Tames do NO (!) damage to the skeletons. So you have to work with weapons here. If you are not yet familiar with melee and land combat on RA, here are a few basics:

What do you need?

  • Plate armor,
  • Melee weapons of your choice (firearms and bows are rather ineffective),
  • Ale (buffs the damage you do, reduces the damage you take),
  • Add food of your choice that balances all 4 vitamins (healing and fighting takes A LOT of food - you don't want to starve) I recommend Fish & Chips + Shrunken Head Stew. Then you get a stamina buff which is very handy in fights like this,
  • Medkit (you can use it to heal yourself and your comrades-in-arms, be sure to try the Savior, but also the "normal" healing with the medkits),
  • Sleeping bag (a mobile bed that you can set up near the crate, usefulness is self-explanatory),

Optional 1: a hare. Allows you to run faster in battle. (My choice)

Optional2: A monkey. This will help you to heal. Important: too much beer will stop your normal regeneration. However, the monkey significantly increases the healing effect of the medikits.

Position the weapons, medkits and food like ale on your bar. Then you can switch between them in battle without having to go into your inventory more than necessary. Eating / buffing is also easy at the touch of a button. Personally, I wouldn't make any compromises at the beginning and prepare ALL of these equipment items. Grenades are possible and are recommended again and again, but I expressly do NOT recommend them at this point. So: drink your beer, draw your club and then get to the crate! Remember: you can't heal the crate - but you can. Even if you die, it's not the end of the world.

And here's a note: Animals built around land chests are weakened and do no damage to skeletons. However, this does NOT mean that they are completely useless. Let your imagination run wild and try out different animals, you'll be surprised how useful they can be.

Tip: switch the Autoaim off!
